Andrej Babiš re-elected chairman of ANO Party
Former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has been re-elected chairman of the ANO Party. Mr. Babiš, who was the only candidate for the post, received the backing of 76 out of 95 delegates at the party congress on Saturday. Karel Havlíček, former Minister of Industry and Trade, was elected the party’s first deputy chairman.
Other ANO vice-chairs include Former Environment Minister Richard Brabec, former head of the Chamber of Deputies, Radek Vondráček, Moravian-Silesian Governor Ivo Vondrák and former Finance Minister Alena Schillerová.
The ANO party won 72 seats in elections to the Czech lower house in October and ended up in opposition. Babiš, who is being talked about as a potential favourite for the next presidential election, has not confirmed whether he will run in the presidential election at the beginning of next year.
