ADONXS to sing for Czechia at Basel Eurovision Contest
ADONXS, a young Slovak musician living in Prague, will represent the Czech Republic at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest. His entry 'Kiss Kiss Goodbye' is about "how love drives and shapes us—but so does its absence," ADONXS says.
Adam Pavlovčin, aka ADONXS, grew up listening to music legends such as Queen, Depeche Mode, Elton John and Prince, and has cited Troye Sivan, Mahmood, AURORA and Conan Gray as some of his current influences.
He first appeared in the spotlight as the winner of SuperStar Czech-Slovakia in 2021. Since then, the artist has released a string of singles, as well as his debut album Age of ADONXS in 2022.
In 2022, ADONXS won 'Singer of the Year' and 'Musical Discovery' courtesy of Czech radio station Evropa 2.
Now he will be singing for Czechia at Basel.
"I have visualised this moment to a large extent and for the last year I have mainly focused on creating new songs, also with the ambition of Eurovision. I applied with several songs, and I am happy that one of them was ultimately successful. I can't wait to be able to share the song with you,“ he said about this latest challenge.
The visually engaging clip of his entry 'Kiss Kiss Goodbye' reveals an intimate side to the artist, reflecting on deep childhood experiences and their influence on his current life.
ADONXS says it is deeply personal.
“We wanted to present a strong story with unexpected twists and reveal something real and honest from my own heart – something fragile, which is real, but still hurts a little.”
The video serves as a metaphor for human failure, emotional pain, and the struggle with one’s own imperfections. The song itself explores romantic relationships and recurring behavioral patterns, where ADONXS’ longing for unconditional love clashes with the lasting impact of an absent father in early childhood.
“It’s the story of a flawed, wounded hero who, at a crucial moment, is willing to sacrifice a great leap for humanity in the hope of healing a painful wound in his heart. It’s about how love drives and shapes us—but so does its absence,” ADONXS says.
The singer collaborated on the video for the song Kiss Kiss Goodbye with director Jiří Horenský, Slovak production company Reset Production and Czech studio See Ya Creative.
Czechia will perform in the second half of the second Semi-Final on Thursday 15 May.
