Adam Ondra reaches semifinals at Climbing World Championships in Seoul

Czech climber Adam Ondra has advanced to the semifinals of the lead climbing event at the World Championships in Seoul. The 32-year-old, a three-time world champion in the discipline, qualified in 11th place to join the field of 24 semifinalists. Ondra’s teammate Martin Stráník narrowly missed out on advancing, as did Britain’s Olympic champion Toby Roberts, who won the combined event at last year’s Worlds in Paris. Both semifinals, along with the final, will take place on Friday. In 2027, the World Championships will be hosted by Brno, Ondra’s hometown and the cradle of Czech sport climbing.
