Zeman set for state visit to China

The Czech president, Miloš Zeman, will make a state visit to China in the autumn in connection with the 65th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between the two countries, the newspaper Hospodářské noviny reported on Tuesday. Mr. Zeman is expected to meet the Chinese president, Xi Jinping. It will be the first visit by a Czech president since Václav Klaus accepted an invitation to the communist state in 2004. Mr. Zeman, like his immediate predecessor, is expected to focus on boosting Czech export opportunities and to steer clear of the issue of human rights.
