Zelensky welcomes Czech effort to secure ammunition for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Czech President Petr Pavel met briefly for talks on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on Saturday. The Ukrainian leader thanked Mr. Pavel for the assistance that Czechia is providing to Ukraine in its defence against the Russian invasion and the Czech head of state assured him of continued support.

Prior to the meeting, President Pavel said that the Czech Republic has the possibility to buy hundreds of thousands of artillery ammunition for Ukraine in countries outside the European Union, but needs to find sufficient funding to do so. It is now negotiating the matter of finances with Denmark, the Netherlands and Canada. If the negotiations are successful Ukraine could receive the ammunition within a few weeks.
