Czech skier Jan Zabystřan pulled off a stunning victory in the World Cup super-G in Val Gardena on Friday, delivering a breakthrough result for Czech alpine skiing.
The 27-year-old from Kadaň, starting with bib number 29, outpaced the entire field, relegating the world’s top skier, Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt, to second place by 0.22 seconds.
With the win, Zabystřan secured the first-ever World Cup triumph for a Czech male skier in speed events, marking a historic moment for the sport.
