This year’s first case of avian flu in wild birds confirmed in Czechia
The Czech Veterinary authorities have confirmed the first case of avian influenza among wild birds in Czechia this year. The deadly H5N1 virus, which can be transmitted to humans, was detected in four dead birds in South Bohemia.
Since the beginning of this year, 13 outbreaks of avian influenza have been confirmed in Czechia, all among private breeders. The disease reappeared in the country in early January after an eighth-month absence.
