Woman injured in avalanche dies in hospital
A woman who was trapped under an avalanche in the Krkonoše Mountains on Sunday has died of her injuries in hospital.
The Krkonoše mountain rescue service has issued a warning to skiers not to take the second degree avalanche alert lightly and not to stray from the marked trails. The danger of setting off an avalanche is reported to have increased several fold in the past two days due to fresh snow and high winds.
Two avalanches sere set off in the Krkonoše mountains on Sunday, one on the Polish side of the border in which nobody was injured and one on the Czech side where rescuers fought to save one woman. Her two companions were taken to hospital unharmed, but suffering from shock.
