Wednesday Covid figures down, total known cases almost 1.5 million

Some 8,763 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the Czech Republic on Wednesday, around one-quarter fewer than on the same day last week. This continues a trend of falling numbers seen in recent weeks.

The total number of registered cases since the start of the pandemic now stands at almost 1.5 million in the country of 10.7 million. Experts say the real figure is considerably higher.

The coronavirus reproduction number climbed slightly on Wednesday to 0.87.
