Wednesday 2nd was warmest day of 2025 in Czechia, records broken at three-quarters of weather stations
Czechia experienced its hottest day of the year so far on Wednesday, July 2nd. Temperatures in many places significantly exceeded 35 °C, which is the limit of a so-called 'super-tropical' day. The highest temperature was measured in Husinec-Řež near Prague, where it was 37.4 °C in the afternoon.
The record for July 2nd was recorded by 120 of the 170 weather stations that have been operating for at least 30 years, according to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute. The oldest Czech station, in Prague's Klementinum, which has been operating for 250 years, also recorded a new record for the date. The temperature there climbed to 37.1 °C. The previous maximum, from 1905, was 34.5 °C.
