Wandering moose nicknamed Emil now sighted near Vienna
Emil, a moose that has been roaming in the Moravia-Silesia regions of the Czech Republic and even crossed into Slovakia in recent months, has now been spotted in the vicinity of Vienna, the Austrian news agency APA reported. The animal was previously sighted in Lower Austria.
Austrian police have urged the public not to pursue the moose, either on foot or by car, warning that such behavior could endanger both the animal and the people involved. APA earlier noted that Emil likely began his journey in Poland before making his way through the Czech Republic into Austria.
In the Czech Republic, the travels of the young moose — a solitary species that can grow over two meters tall and weigh more than half a ton — attracted considerable public attention.
