Vystrčil: Prague could again host Belrusian exile government century later

Czech Senate speaker Miloš Vystrčil says Prague could again play host to a Belarusian government in exile, a century after the last time it served that role.

He made the comment at a memorial ceremony at the city’s Olšany Cemetery, where he and Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya paid tribute to the memory of two Belarusian presidents-in-exile who served in the Czech capital in the first half of the last century, following the occupation of their country by Bolshevik Russia.

Ms. Tsikhanouskaya had earlier attended the opening of an Office of Democratic Forces of Belarus in Prague during a visit that was also due to see her meet other senior Czech officials.
