Valentine’s Day expenditures soaring

People are spending increasingly more on Valentine’s Day, according to a Mastercard survey.

In the last ten years, Valentine's spending has increased by 180 percent in the world and by 648 percent in Europe. In the Czech Republic, expenditures linked to Valentine’s Day rose by 548 percent, in the case of flowers by 1,806 percent.

43 percent of Czechs bought gifts for Valentine's Day on the Internet. 41 percent said they would shop in their immediate neighbourhood. Due to the coronavirus restrictions most Czechs plan to cook something special and go for a romantic walk.
