US tariffs on films would not be liquidating for Czech market, according to producers

The imposition of 100% tariffs on all films produced outside the USA, announced by US President Donald Trump, would certainly impact Czech producers, but not in a devastating way.

Vratislav Šlajer, chairman of the Association of Producers in the Audiovisual Industry, estimates that US orders account for about half of all foreign orders in Czechia. Šlajer highlighted the ambiguity of the proposed measure, given the global interconnectedness of the film industry and major internet platforms. The Ministry of Culture will analyze how possible US tariffs would affect the Czech audiovisual industry.
