US Secretary of Defence to visit Prague next week

US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin is due to arrive in Prague next Friday, September 9, the Czech Ministry of Defence said on Thursday. The Pentagon chief will hold talks with Defence Minister Jana Černochová and Prime Minister Petr Fiala, focusing on aid to Ukraine and the current security situation.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the meeting will follow on from Mrs. Černochová’s visit to the US earlier this year, during which she discussed, among other things, the modernisation of the Czech Army.

The government recently decided to launch negotiations with the United States on the purchase of F-35 fighter jets.
