Unions welcome plan to extend school Christmas holidays over Covid
Teachers unions in the Czech Republic have welcomed a plan from the incoming government to extend school Christmas holidays by three days in view of the Covid situation. Unions chief František Dobšík said he had written to the education minister in resignation, Robert Plaga, and the candidate to replace him, Petr Gazdík, asking them to reconsider an agreement under which the holidays would not be extended.
Mr. Dobšík said the unions wanted to see even vaccinated people tested in schools and for principals to get the power to order quarantine.
