Union at the Government Office on strike alert over transfer of agendas
The trade union organization Straka at the Government Office has declared a strike alert over the planned transfer of responsibilities in areas such as human rights protection, mental health, and addiction policy to several ministries.
According to the union, the reorganization scheduled to take effect at the beginning of July will jeopardize a functioning system, weaken professional continuity, and lead to the departure of experienced civil servants from the public administration.
If the Government Office signs delimitation agreements with the ministries regarding the transfer of the relevant departments, the unions are prepared to call a strike.
The head of the Government Office, Tünde Bartha, said she respects the unions’ decision. However, she stated that their concerns are unfounded. She is scheduled to meet with union representatives again on Thursday morning for further negotiations.
