Unemployment fell to 3.2 percent in May

Unemployment fell to 3.2 percent in May, a decrease of 0.1 percent when compared with the previous month, data published by the Czech Republic’s Labour Office on Wednesday show. In year-on-year terms, unemployment fell by 0.7 percent.

Labour market statistics are currently being affected by seasonal work in sectors such as gastronomy, construction, agriculture and tourism, the director of the Labour Office, Viktor Najmon, said. He expects unemployment to continue falling in the coming months precisely due to this factor. However, he said that al is dependent on how the war in Ukraine develops and on the impact of the energy crisis on businesses.
