Two police units raid top Czech hospital

One of Czechia’s leading hospitals, Prague’s IKEM, was raided by the police on Tuesday morning. Officers from the force’s internal affairs and organised crime units took part in the operation, with a spokesperson for the latter saying no arrests had been made.

The news outlet Seznam Zprávy reported that the raids were in connection with the former head of IKEM, Michal Stiborek. He resigned recently, following accusations he had made tens of millions of crowns through loans at extortionate rates.

Internal affairs are investigating suspected coercion and extortion at IKEM, while the organised crime police are looking into possible manipulation of contracts and corruption, Czech Television reported.
