Two new sections of D6 highway open to drivers

Two newly-completed stretches of the D6 motorway between Karlovy Vary and Prague, officially opened to drivers on Saturday.

The nearly 15-kilometer section diverts transit traffic away from villages in the Rakovník region and speeds up travel between the capital and western Bohemia. Motorists can now drive continuously on the D6 from Prague to the border of the Ústí and Central Bohemian regions.

The project cost almost four billion crowns, more than half funded by the European Union. The full highway between Karlovy Vary and Prague is scheduled for completion in 2028, according to the Roads and Motorways Directorate.
