Two new bird flu outbreaks have been reported in Czechia

Two new outbreaks of bird flu have been reported in small poultry farms in the Teplice and Strakonice regions of Czechia. Several hens died at both locations, and the remaining poultry on the farms had to be culled. The State Veterinary Administration confirmed this on Wednesday. These incidents mark the second and third bird flu outbreaks in small poultry farms this year.

Bird flu is caused by influenza A viruses. A particularly harmful subtype of the virus is H5N1. The disease is typically introduced to commercial farms by wild birds and is primarily spread through their droppings.
