Two groups of Czech tourists rescued by helicopters in the Alps

Two groups of Czech tourists were rescued by helicopters in the Austrian Alps over the weekend. In one case, four Czechs got into trouble during a hike near Traunstein. In the other, a Czech family needed help on a via ferrata on the Grosser Donnerkogel mountain.

The group of four had planned their route to the Traunsee via ferrata using an app. When they realised the ferrata was too difficult for them, they decided to descend to the valley via an unmarked trail. They became lost at an altitude of 1,249 metres and called for help.

The second group, a family, took a wrong turn while descending from the summit of Grosser Donnerkogel. Their 10-year-old daughter became increasingly exhausted, and they also called for help. All the tourists were safely taken down to the valley.
