Two German doctors arrive in Czechia to help in COVID-19 fight, British and Americans to follow

Two German doctors, sent to help the Czech Republic in the fight against the second wave of the coronavirus, started their service at the Military University Hospital in Prague on Monday. A further six doctors from the United Kingdom are set to arrive later in the day, while a team of American soldiers from the Texas and Nebraska National Guard will arrive later in the week, according to Czech Defence Ministry spokesman Jan Pejšek.

The foreign medical staff is being sent after the Czech Republic asked its allies for help, mainly in the form of medical personnel. The country’s health sector has been heavily impacted by the second wave of the coronavirus this autumn.

Meanwhile, the Czech government is set to discuss increasing the number of Czech soldiers active in hospitals and social services from 360 to 900.
