Tuesday saw another record rise in coronavirus cases
The Ministry of Health registered 17,278 new cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus on Tuesday, the highest number yet in a single day since the virus was first detected in the Czech Republic last March. The percentage of overall tests turning out positive also rose from Monday’s 37 percent up to 41.5 percent, although this is still below some of the highest ratios recorded last week.
The PES counter-epidemic score, which defines the severity of restrictions, fell to 86 points, a result of the new system of defining the PES score which now focuses primarily on the number of hospitalised patients rather than newly detected cases.
