Transparency International: Havlíček incapable of managing two ministries at once

Corruption watchdog Transparency International (TI) has published an article on its website stating that Karel Havlíček, who is simultaneously vice-premier, minister of industry and trade, and minister of transport, cannot effectively manage two ministries at once.

TI claims that it has registered several missteps made by Mr. Havlíček in the year since he has been in charge of both ministries and writes that this could lead to errors in key decisions relating to state contracts worth millions of crowns.

One of the examples that the watchdog mentions is the tender for constructing a new bloc at the Dukovany nuclear power plant, which it says is far from transparent.

In response, Mr. Havlíček told the Czech News Agency that Transparency International is mistaken and that he is supported by competent colleagues. He likened the watchdogs analysis to a press release for opposition parties.
