Train driver dies after Pendolino crash

A train driver died on Monday morning when his Pendolino train crashed into a shunting locomotive at the Bohumín station in Karviná in the Moravian Silesian Region. One member of the train’s crew suffered light injuries, as did four people working on the shunting locomotive, a spokesperson for Czech Rail told the Czech News Agency.

The head of the Railways Inspectorate, Jan Kučera, said that most likely cause of the accident was the Pendolino driver’s failure to respect a stop signal.
