Trading volume on Prague Stock Exchange hits highest level since 2012
Trading volume on the Prague Stock Exchange has reached its highest level since 2012. So far this year, trades have totalled CZK 206 billion, the exchange’s chief executive Petr Koblic said on Tuesday.
Equities accounted for the largest share, rising year on year by 51 percent to CZK 163 billion. Trading in funds for qualified investors followed, up 43 percent to 31 billion. Koblic said the growth reflects turbulence in global markets.
The most heavily traded shares were those of energy company ČEZ, along with Erste Group, Komerční banka and arms maker Colt CZ, which recorded the biggest percentage increase in trading.
The market also hit a record high this year. The PX index has gained 47 percent since January and closed on Monday at 2,583 points.
