Trade union: Škoda Auto to begin cutting production line shifts from Monday
Car manufacturer Škoda Auto will cancel all production shifts in its Mladá Boleslav and Kvasinky factories on Monday and Tuesday, Škoda Auto trade unions have informed informed via their weekly newspaper. Shifts, particularly those during the afternoon and at night, are also expected to be cut in the subsequent days next week.
The news comes just a few days after Škoda Announced that it will limit or completely cut shifts in production lines from October 18 due to the global shortage of chips. Neither the unions nor the management of Škoda Auto is willing to predict how long shifts will be closed. It is possible that production will be halted until the end of the year, but, depending on chip deliveries, it could also be restarted ad hoc.
