Tick activity in Czechia reaches highest level
The activity of ticks in Czechia has reached the highest level on a five point scale, significantly increasing the danger of contracting Lyme disease or Tick Borne Encephalitis.
Experts have urged people to protect themselves with tick repellents and proper clothing and consult any changes to the skin following a tick bite with a doctor.
During the first four months of 2022, the Central Bohemian hygiene station recorded 43 cases of Lyme disease, which is more than double the number of cases compared to the previous year. Czechia is also one of the countries with the highest incidence of Tick Borne Encephalitis in Europe.
