Thousands rally in Prague against populism ahead of elections

Thousands gathered in Prague’s Old Town Square on Sunday for a rally organized by the civic group Million Moments for Democracy to warn against the danger of populist and extremist parties entering  the government and parliament after the autumn elections. Participants carried Czech, EU, and Ukrainian flags, as well as banners reading “We don’t want Russia here” and “Everything is at stake.”

In recent days, Million Moments for Democracy also launched a public appeal urging voters to back pro-Western parties in the upcoming election. The movement says it aims to reach undecided voters through public discussions and events.
