Thousands gather in Prague for international museums conference

Around 3,500 delegates are attending an International Council of Museums (ICOM) conference that runs in Prague from Saturday until the end of next week. The first such event since a conference in Kyoto in 2019 will look at the relationship between museums and new technologies, sustainability and civil society, as well as the future outlook for the field.

The Czech News Agency reported that the Czech state was contributing around CZK 25 million to the gathering, which organisers compare to a cultural Olympics. The main venue for the hybrid live and online event is Prague’s Congress Centre.
