Thousands celebrate anniversary of liberation of Pilsen by Allied forces
Every year, people from all over the world come to the Pilsen Freedom Festival, which commemorates the liberation of Pilsen on May 6, 1945. Pilsen was the last place on the European continent that the Allied troops liberated. World War II officially ended in Europe two days later, on 8 May 1945, with the formal acceptance by the Allies of Germany's unconditional surrender.
