Tennis: Vondroušová through to French Open fourth round
Czech tennis player Markéta Vondroušová reached the last 16 of the French Open on Friday after beating Chloe Paquet of France 6-1, 6-3. The 24-year-old Czech, who became the first unseeded player to win Wimbledon last year, lost the finals at Roland Garros in 2019. The fifth seed will face Serbia’s qualifier Olga Danilovic in the next round.
Another Czech, Marie Bouzková, was defeated by world number one Iga Swiatek 6-4, 6-2. In the men’s singles, Tomáš Macháč will face Daniil Medvedev in the third round after defeating Portugal’s Nuno Borges.
