Tennis: Plíšková makes Rome quarterfinals, Krejčíková out

Karolína Plíšková has reached the quarterfinals at the WTA tournament in Rome. On Thursday, she beat two-time Grand Slam finalist Vera Zvonareva of Russia in two sets (7:5, 6:3).

Plíšková was the tournament winner in 2019 and a runner-up to Simona Halep last year. Her compatriot Barbora Krejčíková was eliminated in the third round, after losing to Iga Świątek of Poland in three sets (6:3, 6:7, 5:7).
