Tennis: Muchová through to US Open quarterfinals

Czech tennis player Karolína Muchová has advanced to the quarterfinals of the US Open after defeating Italy’s Jasmine Paolini on Monday at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The Czech world No. 52, who last year was a semi-finalist at the US Open and a finalist at Roland Garros, took an hour and nine minutes to win the match 6-3, 6-3.

Muchová is set to face Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil in Wednesday’s quarterfinals.
