Tennis: Barbora Krejčíková eliminated in US Open quarterfinals
Barbora Krejčíková was knocked out of the US Open quarterfinals in New York after losing to Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus in two sets (1:6, 5:7).
It was the 25-year-old player’s singles debut at the US Open, which close this year’s Grand Slam season. Earlier, she won the French Open and together with Kateřina Siniaková won a gold medal in women's doubles at the Tokyo Olympics.
Karolína Plíšková, the world no. 4, faces Maria Sakkari of Greece at the US Open later on Wednesday. Both are chasing their maiden Grand Slam titles.
