This weekend Prague hosted the 13th mass rally of the Sokol sports organization. The event, called a 'slet' in Czech, has been held every six years since 1882, with the exception of the many years when the Sokol organization was banned - first during the two world wars and then nearly forty years during communist rule. The first post-communist slet was held in 1994 and was a massive success. However, many feel it should have been left at that. This is no time, they think, for patriotic demonstrations. Many predicted this weekend's slet would certainly be a failure. Well, Olga Szantova spent Sunday at the Sokol rally watching the parade in the morning and the mass gymnastics in the afternoon.
