Survey: Average age of tenants in Czechia rises to over 33

The average age of people renting homes in Czechia has increased by three years over the past five years, from 30 to more than 33, according to an analysis by property platform UlovDomov.cz. People over 35 now make up more than 43 percent of tenants.

The analysis suggests renting is no longer just a temporary arrangement for young people starting their careers. More people in their thirties and older are staying in rented homes, often because buying property has become increasingly unaffordable due to high prices and mortgage costs.

Around a quarter of people in Czechia currently live in rented accommodation, according to Eurostat. UlovDomov estimates that the share could rise to 30 percent by 2030 if the current trend continues.
