Supreme Court rejects appeal by German tourist who vandalized Charles Bridge with graffiti
The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by a German tourist Benjamin Wittig, who, together with another man, spray-painted one of the pillars of Charles Bridge with graffiti in the summer of 2019. He received a yearlong suspended sentence, a fine of 100,000 crowns and a five-year ban on entering the country. Wittig criticized an earlier ruling against him by the Court of Appeals, which reviewed the case by videoconference. The Supreme Court upheld the decision, saying videoconferencing was a sensible solution at a time when the Covidu-19 pandemic was complicating travel between states.
