Supreme Audit Office criticizes system of granting subsidies

The system according to which subsidies are granted in the Czech Republic does not work to the best possible advantage, the Supreme Audit Office said in its annual report published on Monday. The office said the system has fundamental problems, and the state often focuses on a maximum use of available funds rather than supporting projects that can make a real difference. Such a system is flawed and does not help the development of regions or the long-term strengthening of competitiveness, the report said. The president of Supreme Audit Office Miloslav Kala also criticized the slow pace of digitization of the state agenda saying that ministries have failed to significantly improve the efficiency of the state administration.
