Study: Summer droughts from 2015 to 2018 were the heaviest in over 2,000 years

The summer droughts that took place in the region of Central Europe from 2015 to 2018 were the heaviest in 2,110 years, according to  joint study conducted by scientists from the Global Change Research Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the University of Cambridge. The study was based on the analysis of stable carbon and oxygen isotopes in the growth rings of 147 oak trees. Most of the trees were sampled in the Czech Republic.

According to Miroslav Trnka from the Global Change Research Institute, this is the largest and most detailed study of hydro-climatic conditions in the region.
