Study: 17 percent of Czech tree species endangered

According to a new study produced by the charity Botanic Gardens Conservation International, 17 percent of tree species native to the Czech Republic are endangered. The study states that 84 different types of tree species currently grow in the Czech Republic, 12 of which are endemic. Altogether 14 species of tree are endangered.

The global study warns that up to a third of the world’s tree species are endangered. The largest amount of endangered tree species are in Brazil, followed by Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Columbia and Venezuela.
