Students demonstrate in Prague in support of Russian artist, LGBT+ activist

Dozens of students demonstrated on Wenceslas Square in Prague on Saturday in support of Russia artist and LGBT+ activist Yulia Tsvetkova, who faces charges of spreading pornography.

A Russian court found the 26-year-old activist guilty of “promoting non-traditional sexual relations between minors” a week ago, imposing a fine against her. If found guilty on the pornography charge, she faces up to six years in prison.

Tsvetkova gained prominence on social networks for her poetic illustrations inspired by “The Vagina Monologues”, an episodic off-Broadway play. Amnesty International has labeled her a prisoner of conscience.

The Moscow Times recently likened the Russian authorities' interest in her to politically motivated legal action taken against activists from Pussy Riot and opposition figures.
