Strict measures remain but Czechs may exercise further from homes

The Czech government plans to keep in place strict measures aimed at fighting high Covid numbers beyond the coming weekend, ministers said on Thursday evening. Movement between different districts is still barred except for a small number of exceptions. However, it will be possible to do sports anywhere in one’s district, not just in one’s municipality as at present, the minister of health, Jan Blatný, told reporters.

The current restrictions have been in place since the beginning of March, when the government said they would be valid for three weeks.

Mr. Blatný said the situation surrounding the epidemic had improved over that period but that things remained critical in Czech hospitals.
