Stranjura: Public salaries to rise – but less than inflation
Finance Minister Zbyněk Stanjura says that the government will increase public sector salaries next year, but pay rises will not keep pace with inflation. He made the comment on Czech Television on Sunday.
The minister did not specify how much more public sector employees could expect. Trade unions are demanding rises in line with inflation from July this year; nine have declared a “strike standby” and four others support them.
Year-on-year inflation reached 16 percent in the Czech Republic in May.
