Czech strikers sparkle in France

Starting with football and it was a good weekend for Czech strikers in the French first division at the weekend. Milan Baros - who moved to Lyon from Aston Villa last week - had a dream home debut for his new club when he scored in their 1-1 draw with Nice. Baros's international team mates Jan Koller and Marek Heinz also got on the score sheet for their teams. Koller continued his streak of good from since returning from a hamstring injury by scoring his second goal in two games for Monaco in their 1-0 win against Sedan. Heinz meanwhile scored twice for St. Etienne in their three-all draw with Nancy.

Nedved leads late Juventus comeback

Elsewhere, in Italy, and veteran midfielder Pavel Nedved once again proved his worth to Juventus with a last minute equaliser in the Turin side's 1-1 draw with La Spezia. The goal keeps Juventus two points ahead of fellow promotion hopefuls Bologna at the top of Serie B. Juventus were relegated from Italy's premier division last season after becoming embroiled in match-fixing scandal.

Liberec march on in ice hockey's Extraliga

Ice Hockey now and Liberec continue to dominate the Czech Republic's Extraliga. They followed up last week's 10-1 hammering of Litvinov with a 7-2 demolishment of Slavia Prague. Liberec are now eight points clear at the top of the table ahead of second-placed Pardubice who enjoyed a narrow 6-5 win over Trinec on Sunday.

Jagr moves up all-time goal-scoring charts

Meanwhile, in America's National Hockey League, Jaromír Jágr scored for New York Rangers in their 2-1 win over Philadelphia. It was Jagr's 610th goal in the NHL, which moves him up to joint-thirteenth place in the all-time goal-scoring charts together with Bobby Hull.

Mazoch takes first steps after emerging from coma

Finally, Czech ski jumper Jan Mazoch has taken his first steps after regaining consciousness following a horrific crash in Poland last week. The 21-year old had been kept in a medically induced coma after falling at a World Cup event in Zakopane and landing heavily on his head. Doctors say his condition is improving, but have yet to indicate whether he'll make a full recovery.
