Sport now, and confusion surrounds the future of the Czech international footballer Karel Poborsky. The player's agent, Pavel Baska, has told reporters that the winger is all set to be transferred from the Portuguese side Benfica to the Italian Serie A club, Lazio Rome.

This contradicts, however, reports coming out of Italy. Lazio's Swedish coach, Sven Goran Eriksson, told journalists there that he has no knowledge at all of such a move. Lazio have countered that the transfer is unlikely to go ahead, especially at this point in the European football calendar.

The move would make sense, though. Lazio transferred their right-sided midfielder Sergio Conceicao to Parma as part of the Hernan Crespo deal and are desperately short of a replacement. However, Poborsky would still be ineligible to play in the Champions League for Lazio this season. Benfica for their part are very angered by the rumours. The Lisbon club's chairman, Dr. Vale e Azevedo, reacted by simply exclaiming "If anyone approaches him and tries to sign him before his contract has run out, we will take legal action." So there!

Chmel Blsany recorded only their second win of the season, thrashing Jablonec at home by four goals to nil.
