Sparta Prague loses 0:2 to AS Monaco in first leg of Champions League qualifier
Sparta Prague lost 0:2 to AS Monaco in the first leg of the third round of qualifiers for this year’s Champions League, which was played in Prague on Tuesday evening.
Sparta could have gone into the lead, but striker Adam Hložek missed a big chance in the early stages of the game. Then, in the 27 minute, Monaco’s Aurélien Tchouaméni netted the first game for the away team which was followed by another goal in the second half scored by Kevin Volland.
The game was marked by racist abuse shouted at Aurélien Tchouaméni as he ran past a group of Sparta fans when celebrating his goal. Managers of both teams sharply criticised the behaviour of the group of home fans.
The second leg of the qualifier will be played in Mondaco on Tuesday, August 10.
