Sparta advance to Conference League group stage despite defeat by FC Riga

Sparta Prague lost 0–1 away to FC Riga in the return leg of the Europa Conference League playoff. However, their 2–0 victory in the first leg secured the team's place in the group stage. The defeat at the hands of FC Riga ends Sparta’s nine-match winning streak in all competitions, but Czech football is assured of at least four teams in European cups this autumn. Title holders Slavia Prague are already in the Champions League, Viktoria Plzeň will compete in the Europa League, and Olomouc face either the Europa or Conference League, with Baník Ostrava also chasing a spot.
