“Sounds of Žofín” festival of brass band music opens in Prague
The “Sounds of Žofín” festival of brass band music begins at Žofín Palace in Prague on Tuesday. It is taking place alongside the annual conference of the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) and will run until 23 July. Sounds of Žofín will welcome brass orchestras from all over the world, offering 32 concerts over four days and featuring 1,800 musicians. The US Marine Band, which is attending the festival for the first time, is due to perform on July 20. The program will also include an exhibition of musical instruments from local and international manufacturers and sheet music.
